PINOYS ON PARLIAMENT

Pinoys on Parliament: National Youth Leadership Conference, also known as POP, is a yearly national youth leadership conference for young Filipino/a/x-Canadians held in Ottawa, Ontario.

For its inaugural conference in 2019, I was invited by POP to be the first Artist-in-Residence for the conference. I presented my Balikbayan Brillos installation for the first time, inviting participants to reflect on the migratory experience. I also directed the Halo-Halo icebreaker activity, inviting participants to reflect on their cultural identities through the construction of the halo-halo dessert using various art materials.

For its second conference in 2020, I was invited for a second year to be the Artist-in-Residence. I developed a Pinoys on Parliament Yearbook Installation, as a way for participants to get to know one another.
